These fellas will just have to go\u0026hellip;\nArriving at Blashford on a sunny spring morning, the Daffys were just starting to bloom.\nThere was very little out on the water, however in the reeds the Bittern made a stealthy appearance - my first sighting.\nOver the water, a Cormorant lay watch:\nA Tufted Duck:\nand what I believe to be a pair of young Little Greebs:\nThe wooded area held much more reward. The sighting blackboard had written on it \u0026ldquo;100+ Siskins\u0026rdquo;, and when I got there I realised what they meant. The place was just swarming with them, attracted to the bird feeders. 8\u0026quot; wide Mach 5 alloy, shod in BFGoodrich\u0026rsquo;s excellent KM2 (285/75R16), I next had the problem of working out how to avoid the tyres from rubbing on the wheel arches under articulation.\nAfter lengthy research, I settled on a Gwyn Lewis supplied 2\u0026quot; lift kit. Not wanting to regret skimping on parts later, I went for the whole hog, including castor corrected front radius arms (hockey sticks) and double cardon prop-shafts:\nI drafted in hired help to assist with the fitment (thanks a lot Dad!), and having booked a week off work, we began at the front. The vehicle had not long been Diniltrol\u0026rsquo;d which had unfortunately resulted in a little extra work in clearing threads to be assist with undoing the old nuts.\nSome nuts were unbelievably tight, such as the front one holding the hockey stick in place. We were forced to use a ring spanner as the thread was too long for a standard length socket, as we didn\u0026rsquo;t have a deep socket of the appropriate size. But hey, this is what 6 foot metal tubes are for right?\nThankfully the nut caved in before the spanner did, and we could progress. The front springs are held ion place against a turret which in turn is held by a circle of 4 captive bolts. On a 10 year old vehicle the tin worms had been busy and they sheered real easy, so bewarned if you are planning to reuse this. Thankfully we were not.\nTime to replace the first spring. Gwyn had told me to check the invoice which he had marked with the front and back springs (they are different). They were even different left to right - the right being taller (at least on a RHD vehicle). Malfunction number 1 - I had left the invoice at home. Could we figure it out from inspection?\nNo not really, and it was Sunday so I couldn\u0026rsquo;t ring Gwyn to confirm which it was. An internet search strongly suggested that:\nOME 3062 (taller) - For the front\nOME 2762 - Rears\nso on we went with the 3062 set. Next up was the hockey stick - these are castor corrected to ensure that the axle \u0026rsquo;tilts backwards\u0026rsquo; like the front forks of a bicyle - which is what causes the wheels to return to the straight ahead position. Side by side they look pretty similar:\nbut line the front holes up and the difference is plane to see:\nFitting everything together:\nVoila - end of day one, and one corner was complete, and we have a wonky vehicle!\nYou can see here that the brake pipe it almost fully extended. Extended brake cables are included in the kit - although we have left fitting these for the garage - rounding the old unions off and then not being able to drive home would not have been an ideal scenario to find ourselves in.\nWe also ran into problem number one. The front turrets are raised to accomdate the +5.5\u0026quot; shocks - but this means you can no longer fit the cover over the turret. A problem still to be resolved\u0026hellip;\nThe difference between the side which was done:\nto that which was yet to be done:\nDay 2 revealed problem number 2 - the front steering guard was dangerously close to the steering arm:\nI\u0026rsquo;m still not entirely sure why this problem surfaces after raising front - unless it was related to the castor corrected front radius arms. For the moment we have removed the guard - its simple enough to cut half an inch off the front but will make a mess of the powder coating.\nThe old bump stops were also remarkably tricky to remove - the top and button nuts which held it in place being of different size - the top of which was prone to rounding off as you could only use a open ended spanner to hold it. We ended up cutting them off with a angle grinder/Dremel. Thankfully the new ones are just a plain 13mm nut and bolt arrangement.\nNext day we were onto the rears. There are 2 shock \u0026lsquo;cups\u0026rsquo; fitted to each side which much be removed. Gwyn\u0026rsquo;s documents helpfully suggested drilling the spot welds out - which would be fine if there wasn\u0026rsquo;t 10 years of rust covering them up. Thankfully a chisel was equally effective:\nthen onto my most feared part of the job - relocating the fuel filter. In their wisdom, Land Rover had decided that putting them in the wheel well was a good place - because there is no dirt thrown up there right? Extended shock mounts for the 90/110 interfere with its position - so it must be moved forward. Note also that the original shock top mount is dropped in favour of a front style shock through hole type.\nA phone call to Gwyn told me that the front shock hole was for \u0026lsquo;ultimate off road\u0026rsquo; articulation - the rear for the better road holding. Right that\u0026rsquo;ll be the rear one for me then\u0026hellip;\nThe other side was simpler with no fuel filter to relocate.\nAll that was left was to fit the heavy duty front and rear prop-shafts.\nI also had a new top mount/a-frame ball joint to replace, but we decided that this was probably left to the garage with a four poster lift. Job done!\nWe had replaced the drag link with the first part of Gwyn\u0026rsquo;s \u0026ldquo;Sumo\u0026rdquo; kit - but again decided to let the garage fit the rest.\nA test drive showed no adverse effect of the lift other than as expected a bit more body roll due to the higher centre of mass. Of course no respectable PC do-it-yourself-er would go with anything other than a water cooled system, and I had chosen a 5/8\u0026quot; outer diamter tubing for maximum water flow.\nWhile some effort has been put into the colour scheme, I think its fair to say that the general tidyness, particularly the wiring, resembled something of a rats nest.\nThe machine itself ran well, and if I am being completely honest there was no clear need to upgrade. But the upgrade itch had bitten hard, and an opportunity to redeploy my existing hardware (thanks brother!) permitted me the opportunity to \u0026lsquo;justify\u0026rsquo; an upgrade.\nSo what did I want from the upgrade? I decided two things:\nIncreased photo editing performance A neater installation How can the photo editing performance be enhanced? The core CPU thread speed has not significantly increased. Clock speed has gone up modestly (my 2600K has cores which run at 3.4Ghz (3.8Ghz on turbo) compared to the fastest Haswell 4790K which runs at 4.0Ghz (4.4Ghz turbo), and the architecure has had marginal improvements between the two generations - but combined not enough to make a significant impact.\nNo - instead I needed to focus on cores - which allow more threads to run in parallel, something which makes very significant differences with media content. As it happens - Intel had recently released their latest generation \u0026ldquo;Enthusiast\u0026rdquo; CPU in the latter half of 2014 - with the 5960X being the top dog with a mighty 8 cores (albeit running at a relatively low clock speed of 3.0Ghz (3.5Ghz turbo).\nThe motherboard this CPU sits on makes use of the also recently released DDR4, although there was a significant price premium attached. I restricted myself to a \u0026lsquo;mere\u0026rsquo; 32GB of Corsair\u0026rsquo;s finest 2400MHz kit (4x8GB), with a black heatsink.\nFor a motherboard, the ASUS Rampage V was sitting top of the tree, which was duly ordered.\nThis uses a colour theme of black and red - a cliche to a number of people, however not a scheme which I have previously used so I was happy.\nSo we had some high end components, in need of a high end case. It had to be compatible with water cooling (of course). I suspected that the nVidia 780Ti combined with the CPU would generate quite a lot of heat - potentially more than my existing Mountain Mods 3x120mm radiator could contain.\nWhat case would fit the bill? Another Mountain Mods of course! This time the Extended U2-UFO CYO. Thankfully unlike the first case I imported from them - Mountain Mods\u0026rsquo; current cases are shipped flat packed, which should reduce postage. However postage was still considerable more than most folks will spend on their cases in total which was a little disappointing\u0026hellip;\nThankfully it was not very difficult to assemble, upon which point I could see just how big this case is - substantial to say the least. Keep in mind that the motherboard tray in the following image is sized for a full size server motherboard:\nNext up is a new PSU. This is one area I do not like to skimp on - I wanted a reliable, efficient PSU with plenty of capacity. There was one which hit the target (well actually exceeded it by some margin), the Corsair AX1500i, a 1500 watt digital PSU with extreme efficiency.\nFor cooling, solid acryllic tubing offers some advantages. It:\nLooks neater Does not contain plasticizer which comes out of the flexible tubing over time The downside is the \u0026lsquo;flexibility\u0026rsquo; (excuse the pun) - it takes a lot longer to construct the system, and if you change a water cooled component you are looking at considerable effort to rebuild the cooling loop to fit the new items.\nNonetheless, I wanted to give hard lines a chance, and had booked a week off work to fit it all together. EKWB Liquid Cooling based in Slovenia made all the components needed for acryllic tubing, in addition to motherboard cooling blocks for the Rampage V.\nOrdering direct from Solenia is quite cost effective and efficient being in the EU region - delivery took around 3 days.\nI only needed 1x360mm radiator, as I already had one from a previous purchase before discovering that the radiator fan spacing has changed in the last 10 years since I started water cooling.\nSo, with a set of parcels arrived, it was time to get on with the build.\nTo control the numerous fans, I had been recommended an Aqua Computer Aquaero 6 Pro - which supplies in the UK seems limited. I ended up ordering this direct from Germany along with a number of PWM fans.\nThe first task was to loosely assemble the components and check that it all worked, in case anything needed returning. The motherboard in its red and black livery:\nQuickly bolting in the components for a test run, and balancing a heatsink on the CPU revealed a working setup, at least as far as the BIOS screen was concerned.\nWith that established, now I could take a brave pill and start pulling the rather expensive motherboard to bits, and replace with the (at the time) brand new EK chipset waterblock.\nInside the box, we have the following shinies:\nPull off the two blocks off the motherboard and clean up:\nIn addition to the blocks on the motherboard\u0026rsquo;s chipset, a CPU block is also needed. Again I went with a EK block - but for the socket 2011 it is recommended to reconfigure the innerds of the block to change teh waterflow. It is a little unnerving doing this, after all these are not cheap components and the potential for a leak ruining expensive parts may put people off.\nAssembly of the blocks on the motherboard was thankfully quite straight forward:\nWith the motherboard assembled, the next big task was to take on the acryllic tube bending. This is the first time I have attempted this - it did not look easy and that reflected reality. To help I purchased both the Monsoon and EK bending kits.\nThe technique is to use the Monsoon metal blocks to get your bends, with the silicon pipe inside the tube while the acryllic is heated and bend, to prevent the tube from collapsing. I chose to use the larger of the two acryllic tube sizes, with an outer diameter of 16mm.\nThe EK-HD fittings are a push kit, with a coller with an additional O-ring which holds the tube on the fitting.\nMy objective for the fluid path was to run only in perpendicular lines - no diagonals where possible. This is purely a personel preference, I believe the hard line setups look neater when arranged like this. However with the large diameter tubing which I was using, I found it quite challenging to always get everything square.\nFor your information if you have no worked with acryllic tubing before - there is very little give in the tubes - maybe a millimetre or two at the most - anymore puts a lot of stress on the fittings which is transferred to the blocks and motherboard in turn. For me, the consequence of this was that I ended up making each part at least twice. First was a \u0026lsquo;close fit\u0026rsquo; which I was rarely satisfied with, second to get a fit closer to perfection.\nHowever not everything went to plan. Can you spot the deliberate brain failure event after this cutting to size?\nRemoving the silicon tube was particularly challenging\u0026hellip; It is quite tight in the tube after bends have been formed.\nNext up was one of the tripple 90 degree bends, on a piece of pipe which really was too short. I possibly should have just given in and used a diagonal here.\nI made a mistake of reheating the first tube without silicon in (I do not think you can \u0026lsquo;refit\u0026rsquo; it once you have done a bend - its just too tight). This reheating caused a partical collapse and thinning of the tube (the upper pipe in the following image), resulting in a repeat bend.\nThe orange lines on the tubes were a red pen which I used to denote the centre of the bend. It did not seem an exact science, perhaps there is a better way of determining the bend points?\nNext up, I needed to extract the graphics card out of the existing PC which already had a EK wterblock fitted.\nwhich was fitted in one of the lower slots to make the plumbing a little easier. Also fitted is a BlackGold PCI-e TV card which was supposed to work with Linux - not that I have managed that feat to date.\nWhen ordering the 1500w PSU, I did envisage upgrading to a SLI setup. However further research revealed that its a no-go on Linux at the time. Drivers exist, but performance is apparently worse in SLI mode than just with a single GPU.\nThe time was also here to fit the twin radiators. I aimed to have a single row of 120mm PWM fans in front of each - blowing air out of the case. This was to avoid the need for filters on the front of the case, and to reduce the build up of dust on the radiators.\nIn addition to the radiators, I wanted a series of temperature sensors to record the temperature at various points around the loop. The water temperature should be roughly even if the water flow is sufficient - but I know from experience that the temperature differences can be used to indicate that water flow is insufficient. The sensors would be monitored by the Aquero, which in turn would be used to control the fan speeds.\nThere would be 3 sensors in the system. One at the entrance to the first radiator, one on the second, and one off reservoir feeding the CPU.\nI had imported a set of acryllic fan grills from the USA via e-bay. What I did not realise was that with the newer closer fan spacing - there is not enough space between the slots to fit the grills, leading to a little overlap - less than ideal!\nFor a reservoir, I decided on a XSPC D5 Photon 270 reservoir, which contains a inner tube and slot to put an LED in to light up the water. However, it came with unsightly coloured wiring. One quick order to E22, several hours of researching into braiding techniques, and I entered the world of custom sleeving.\nKeeping with the red and black theme of the motherboard, I completed my first set of braiding!\nFitting the reservoir to the case required a trip to B\u0026amp;Q for a suitable attachement. Unfortunately they were only available in a dark red (darker than it looks in the photo, which was highlighted by the camera flash).\nThe rotation of the reseroir provides choices for the angle of the pipe coming out from the bottom. This led to some difficulties in getting a neat bend out to the CPU.\nI was not satisfied with that, so rotated it to give a straight out to the CPU, and finish off the rest of the tubing.\nThe bottom pipe feeding the radiator (and a drain flexible hose) was not at the right angle, that that was redone - which gave me a interesting new problem:\nRemember how I said when you bend the tubes, it gets hard to remove the silicon insert? Well on this double bender, the silicon broke\u0026hellip;\nwhich meant it had to be done a third time! Luckily there was another stretch of silicon tube with the EK bending kit.\nThis provided a much better outcome, and I could finish off the pipework (note the flow meter, more on that later).\nNext up was to address the audio component of the system. I was using an ASUS Essence STX which gave a good sound output into a good set of headphones. However I had spotted that there was an updated version. In for a penny, in for a pound\u0026hellip;\nI am pleased (and frankly surprised) at the improvement on this updated card - audio now sounds so good!\nAll that was left was to fill her up, using Mayhems Pastel Red which was a good match for the motherboard red.\nWith that done, and then re-done following a leak which required yet another pipe redoing from the flow meter to the reservoir, time to set it up on top of a filing cabinet which just allows space to mount the other system above. You can see the extra length of the newer Mountain Mods case.\nOne quick Linux installation later, and we have a lovely set of 8 cores ready to go!\nThe system has been running for 4 months now - and its been fantastic. Other than video editing which is still sluggish - it has done everything I have asked of it with ease. The hard acryllic tubes seems to allow massive amounts of water flow compared to my old flexy setup - under full load in a warm room around 25 degrees C - the CPU/GPU temperature has not yet gone above 38 degrees C, and the Aquero reports the water temperature is running at 30 degrees C.\nI can fully recommend the Aquero - I have now set it up to use the fans in true \u0026lsquo;silent\u0026rsquo; mode (very low spin) until the water gets to 25 degrees - then spin up gradually. If I play a game the fans are quick to spin up - but within 30 seconds of stopping they spin down again - its truly brilliant.\nYou may have noticed that I failed to braid the rest of the PSU cables. The truth is that I ran out of patience - I will save that job for a rainy day. Also, I have a small leak - about 1 drip/hour when running which is coming from the flow meter itself (not the pipes). The group consisted of 5 vehicles, 4 Defenders and one Discovery. There were plenty of axle twisters to leave us stranded finely balanced:\nleaving me wondering why my traction control wasn\u0026rsquo;t quite as effective as I had hoped it might be. Diff lockers have become a desirable upgrade\u0026hellip;\nThere was also opportunity to mingle with some of the locals, who looked like they\u0026rsquo;d seen it all before.\nSome of the slopes were incredible steep, with very tight hairpin turns which took several stabs to get round. As usual the camera does a wonderful job of removing the true nature of the gradiant - suffice to say I was pretty concerned about parking my car on it even leaving it in gear with the handbrake full on to take some snaps.\nBarny in a very nice Tdci blue 90 was braving the track without traction control, and on road tyres. Lowering the tyre pressures did seem to have a significant effect in increasing traction.\nThere was a superb well equipped new (14-plate) 110 Tdci, which just breezed over everything all day. Traction control (or the driver, Gary\u0026rsquo;s skill!) made everything look simple.\nDay 2 started in a pub car park, where we picked up another 90 owner in the convoy, another Td5 like mine, albeit fitted with taller tyres for a bit of extra clearance over the rocks.\nThe going was a lot easier to begin with, with much better weather than the Saturday.\nBut then things quickly hotted up, with a particularly steep rocky bit causing all sorts of problems even for Russ. Both he and I left this section minus a mudguard, having slid back and ripped them off on the rocks.\nThe view from the top of the road was worth it though!\nComing back down the road proved a lot easier, although still took a lot of time.\nWe then moved into Grizedale Forest, where things moved at a much faster pace leaving me little time for snapping. Uprated it is. This gave three options:\nTruckLite LED lights, as reportedly fitted to millitary Hummers JW \u0026lsquo;Speaker\u0026rsquo; lights Nolden lights Of these, the Nolden are the most expensive but also the highest output (1550 Lumens on dipped beam vs the JW 750 Lumens in measured light output). The stars aligned, and a group buy appeared on Defender2.net, at a significant discount - making them the same price at the JWs.\nOne quick bit of ordering later, and the posty arrived with a very shiny set of lights:\nSo, dig the spanners out and fit them, how hard can it be\u0026hellip; I started by parking in front of the garage and marking the light cut off level on the garage door. On the Defender, the lights are accessed by first removing the plastic covers over them:\nleaving you with a mucky bit of paintwork:\nThen, I found out afterwards, you DON\u0026rsquo;T remove the height adjustment screws, woops! The screws on the left and right at the 3 and 9 o\u0026rsquo;clock positions didn\u0026rsquo;t need to come out - the light apparently would just slide off them (although they looked pretty tight to me). After cleaning up the paintwork a little, and a light coat of wax:\nOn the left-hand-side behind the headlight I found some sort of multi-plug, like an OBD port. No idea what its for, its tied in place but I don\u0026rsquo;t see what you would be attaching at this point on the vehicle?\nWith one light in place and switched on - it doesn\u0026rsquo;t appear to the camera as if its as bright as the old one:\nbut actually the projection on the garage door showed the opposite with a much more focused beam:\nSo with them both fitted, what are the results? Well I had intended to take photo\u0026rsquo;s before and after from the drivers seat, using the same camera settings. wanted to fit a number of dials to monitor the engine. I might have gone down the road of one of the South African MadMan Monitors if I had known about its full potential, but went with a full set of Croytek VDO gauges, which comprised of:\nVoltmeter Boost pressure Oil Temperature Oil Pressure td5 rev counter The rev counter was fitted into the main instrument panel for ease of viewing, the other gauges shuffled along one slot and the clock moved to the Mud Pod.\nIn order to drill 5 holes I decided a pillar drill was in order - which are surprisingly affordable for the cheap Chinese jobbies which the more enthusiast hobby shops like Axminster sell:\nA few back of the envelope calculations later, and I had 5 evenly spaced round holes, ready to accept the gauges.\nThe Mud Pod itself is a moulded plastic unit with a metal baseplate which mounts into the dash top ash tray on the td5. In theory you don\u0026rsquo;t need to screw it down meaning it was totally removeable - but I screwed it as it was a bit too wobbly on the medal folds alone.\nand voila, attached!\nHowever that is of course only half the battle. Next up was the wiring. I wish I could do neat wiring\u0026hellip;\nThen feed the necessary wires (and air pipe for the boost gauge) through a plastic tube into the instrument binacle, where it would double round and into the engine bay.\nAll in all a pretty neat job even if I do say so myself!\nUsing green lights (actually the gauges came with white lights which you slip coloured sleeves over - I have since changed these to LEDs) you can get it to match the rest of the instrument panel fairly closely.\nNow having got a voltmeter, its intersting to see that only ~10 volts gets from the battery to the instrument power feed with the engine off. Undo the top slam panel\u0026hellip;\nThings will then be a lot clearer to see.\nThe intercooler pipes are attached with jubilee clips, which will likely face into the wing, as they are apparently attached with the wing off the vehicle. Undoing them is non-trivial due to the limited access with the wing in place, just take it slow with plenty of cups of tea.\nI was then dumbfounded for quite some time to work out how on earch the intercooler lifts out, as it is attached like a seemingly impossible puzzle. Some internet surfing revealed that the studs need to be extracted from the end plates. Don\u0026rsquo;t try and unscrew these hidden captive plastic nuts hidden inside the wing with a spanner. Why make them spanner shaped then!?!\nInstead simply wind another nut onto the existing one, and undo as a pair bringing the stud with it.\nRepeat at the other end.\nuntil the entire bracket at both end can be lifted out, at which point the intercooler can be removed.\nNow to put the new one in\u0026hellip; Same as reverse right?\nThe new one is much larger than the factory original, seen here side by side for comparison.\nThe water radiator will rock backwards just enough to fit the new intercooler inbetween - taking it very gently of course!\n\u0026hellip; and then we come to my nemesis. Fitting the pipe onto the intercooler. It can\u0026rsquo;t be done before its installed - so must be done after (well at least I can\u0026rsquo;t see how else you can do it). Much internet surfing later revealed that yes, this was tricky with the air con pipes in place - I had to push the silicone pipe over the tight intercooler tube, without my hands getting anywhere near the actual intercooler due to lack of access!\nI since learnt that the trace removes the air con radiator to fit it before hand - a luxery I don\u0026rsquo;t have at home without being able to degas and regas the air-con circuits.\nRemove the turbo air intake pipe to give yourself maximum access. Then swear. A lot\u0026hellip;\nEventually I got it on though.\nWithout a remap - the difference in driving was negligable, so don\u0026rsquo;t go expecting this to make a difference by itself.\nReattach the slam panel, and job done! However since by default the td5 is somewhat close to the maximum allowable noise levels for a work place without ear protection, there is room for improvement!\nThe kit I chose was the Exmoor Trim R380 Moulded Matting System (black) which is not exactly cheap - but had several positive reviews.\nThe kit comprises of a thick rubbery moulded pieces for both the seat box and cabin floor section which runs over the gearbox tunnel.\nTo fit the seatbox cover, first the seats and cubby box need to be removed.\nThe carpet pieces are glued in place, so I chose to leave them attached and lay the rubber over the top.\nIt needs to be cut with a sharp blade, it really is tough stuff.\nYou also need to work out how you are going to access your underseat boxes once its fit. I chose to cut a flap in the top of the sheet and round the clips which attach the seat box tops.\nYou also need to cut holes around the locations where the cubby box and seat rails will attach to.\nAs I had not removed the carpet under glues to the seat base, the ends became quite a tight fit against the door cards. It has settled down over time - but initially it was (more) challenging to shut the doors.\nThe cabin floor mat was quite a struggle to fit, its a heavy beast which is a tight fit over the transmission tunnel. It has resulted in a durable floor though which offers both sounds and temperature insulation from the outside elements.\nIn conclusion, it has reduced the noise levels. Its not \u0026lsquo;quiet\u0026rsquo; by any means, but substantially better than before. We don\u0026rsquo;t have a stability launch platform yet, so insteasd we use a little trick from Scott Manley, and stick the boosters on small pilons on a detachable coller:\nBefore you know it, we have our first Kerbonaut drifting across the heavens.\nNo time to rest on our laurels though, Jebediah gets out and inspects the science module, all seems to be functioning as designed. We\u0026rsquo;re using a double science module design, which allows us to grab more science from the biome where we happen to land, post-mission.\nRentry generates all sorts of fireworks. (Unfortunately) at the current version of KSP, they are just a light show. I have not investigated plugins to KSP yet - one is \u0026lsquo;Deadly Reentry\u0026rsquo; which monitors the spaceship\u0026rsquo;s temperature, and makes it explode if you\u0026rsquo;re coming in too steep an angle. One to investigate in the near future I think - the additional challenge is needed.\n\u0026hellip; and there we have it, my first mission to space. Studio Tour"},{"content":"In August 2013 I was fortunate enough to travel to Boston, Massachusetts to speak at a conference on behalf of my employer.\nUnlike the west coast US cities I had visited, Boston has a much more familiar layout, being one of the earlier cities which was initially built by the British.\nThe view out the hotel stretched across to a lake and beyond.\nI was also afforded a pleasent sunset in the evening:\nThe following morning I woke early, as you do when you have a 5 hour time difference adjustment to make. The sky had a deep blue hue, and I took advantage to wander around the city taking a look at the architecture.\nThe city has a strong mix of the old and the new, which fit well together.\nMy target was to vist the Boston Aquarium, the low building on the left:\nThe aquarium was not a huge building, but did have one big tank in the centre which contained all manner of creatures.\nBack into the sun, with more views of the historic architecture.\nThe Boston Duck Tours offers a ride on an amphibious tour bus around the city and into the lake. Each bus was brightly coloured with a unique name.\nThere was also a historic walking trail around the city to see the sights - sort of a \u0026ldquo;follow the signs\u0026rdquo; type affair.\nNot entirely sure that a special entrace was needed for a particular type of guest\u0026hellip;\nThis is what happened when you don\u0026rsquo;t keep on top of your gardening:\nThe train station offerred a quick peak at the very different sort of locomotives used in the US.
